I have found that children today are seldom being taught or equipped to live the Christian faith. The questions we must ask ourselves are these: “Is the abundant life that Jesus offers for everyone? Is it for children?” Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10) The fullness of life is an area of the Christian life that many Christians never discover. The abundant life comes through knowing our identity in Christ and being taught how to live for Him. Every believer has a promise in Ephesians 1:3-4: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.” You will find that children are very gifted, and they can accomplish great things for God. Most educational institutions teach that each child is at a certain learning level and that this should be the pretense and scale for all training and teaching. I have found, however, that when we believe in children and believe in God’s promises to all who believe in Him, they can be equipped and empowered by God to accomplish great things for Him.

Purpose of the LIT Program
The purpose of the LIT (Leaders in Training) Program is to help preteen children discover their identity in Christ, to disciple and equip them, and to help them find places of service in the church and on the mission field.
Ministry Objectives for LITs
The LIT Program aims to:
teach children the discipline of a regular devotional life,
teach them how to apply God’s Word to their daily lives,
teach them how to pray and spend time alone with God,
teach them how to be a leader in the church,
help them discover their spiritual gifts and use them to build up God’s church,
help them develop a desire to serve others inside and outside the church,
teach them to pray for lost people and how to share their faith, and
take children outside the church on mission trips—locally and away from the city.
